Texas Diner: “We Don’t Serve Fags Here”

A same-sex couple was told to never to return to a diner in Texas because they “don’t serve fags” there.
There is sign on the front door of Big Earl's Bait House and Galley Cafe in Pittsburgh, Texas, that states: “Welcome to Big Earl’s. NO SAGGY PANTS. MEN act like MEN and WOMEN act like LADIES. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.” Collin Dewberry and Kelly Williams had already eaten breakfast and paid their bill when their waitress, who happened to be owner Earl Cheney's daughter, told them "We don't serve fags here.”
“We’ve never had that kind of hate displayed to us before,” Dewberry said in an interview with KLTV. “It was just so nonchalantly, almost like she was reading a piece of paper.”
Earl Cheney, the restaurant owner, posted the sign on the door three years ago. “I didn’t go over there to inspect to see what he was rubbing. That’s just not appropriate in a family restaurant that has a sign on the front door that we just don’t do that here,” he said.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, a few hours before the Houston City Council passed the Equal Rights ordinance.
