Target Launches Pride T-Shirt Line; Tony Perkins Displeased
May 23, 2012 by Eric Cameron, Digital Media Associate
Target recently unveiled a new series of LGBT Pride t-shirts, two of which rocker Gwen Stefani designed.
Tony Perkins, president of the anti-gay Family Research Council, has targeted the retailer for the new campaign, claiming “the country's still very opposed” to LGBT equality.
In reality, polling shows that marriage equality is less of a wedge issue than ever before, with support growing across party lines.
According to a poll released yesterday by NBC News/WSJ, 62 percent of voters say President Obama’s recent endorsement of marriage equality will not affect their vote. And another new poll by ABC News-Washington Post shows support for marriage equality at 53 percent.
