Take Your Marathon Training to the Next Level with Athletes for Equality

I’ve always been an athlete, a runner and now I’m happy to call myself an activist.
As someone who has been a competitive athlete for some time, I know I can train for and compete in an event successfully on my own. I have the passion, drive and commitment to do so. On my list as proof are dozens of finished triathlons, marathons, and even ultra-marathons over the last several years.
When presented with the opportunity, taking my love for competitive racing and pairing it with a cause I care so deeply was an obvious choice for me. Now I’m not just a prolific runner and athlete, I’m a prolific athlete with a deep sense of purpose. I believe you can't change hearts and minds without telling a personal story, and my personal experience is inextricably linked with running. I truly believe I'm advancing equality forward with each step I take and every dollar I raise.
I know many experienced runners who may not have run with a charity before, but I whole-heartedly recommend it. The camaraderie provided via HRC’s Athletes for Equality helps me push myself more than ever before. As team captain, I will be hosting a number of events for our athletes and their supporters, to include weekend-of activities like a celebratory pasta dinner and HRC-sponsored cheering sections along the race route.
HRC has guaranteed spots and we’re still recruiting and rounding out our team for this year’s 39th Annual Marine Corps Marathon on October 26th.
