Last night, HRC’s internship program, HRC University, hosted a young professionals networking event in Washington, D.C.
Members of Generation Equality (GenEQ) gathered together to make new connections with a diverse group of their peers and practice the networking skills that will help them to get ahead professionally.
The 61 attendees represented 25 universities, and 35 different employers and organizations. At the start of the event, HRC Director of Youth and Campus Outreach Sultan Shakir gave a brief presentation on the value of professional networking.
Afterwards, attendees hone their networking skills in small groups led by HRC staff. For the rest of the evening the Equality Forum was abuzz with the sounds of introductions and conversations as members of GenEQ forged new relationships.
Events like this one are an opportunity for the young members of GenEQ to build up a web of professional connections. As they embark on their careers, these connections with their peers across a variety of fields will empower them to spur widespread progress and exciting changes to the professional landscape.
