Students Across Florida Fight to End DADT
April 27, 2010
Students have always played a big role in changing history. Whether on issues of war or civil rights, students have had the energy to change the nation. As an organizer for HRC and a recent graduate from the University of Central Florida, I have been mobilizing LGBT and allied student communities across Florida to become advocates for equality. I recently gave a presentation on how to earn media and take action at the Florida Collegiate Pride Coalition conference in Orlando. Students learned skills that can make a huge difference in the lives of men and women who serve our country. In their effort to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell, students are tabling on college campuses, making phone calls to Senator Bill Nelson’s office and writing letters to urge the Senator to repeal this unjust law. Students across Florida are voicing their ideals of fairness and demanding equal treatment under the law for those serving our country in uniform. I am so proud to be working alongside them.
