Wedding Watch: Straight Couple Shows Support for Marriage Equality

Recently Tristan Rice shared an image of his wedding day on the HRC Facebook page with the caption, “Representing marriage equality at my wedding.” Take a look and you’ll see the HRC logo pin prominently displayed on his lapel.

“Some of the people I love most were born gay… we couldn’t help but represent them, even if in some minor way,” Rice said.

Rice and his wife Ashley exchanged vows under the shade of the trees, surrounded by friends and family, at Red Rock State Park in Sedona, Ariz., on May 25, 2013.

“Everyone deserves to have a perfect day like we did,” Rice said.

Now that marriage equality has returned to California, 28 percent of Americans live in states that recognize same-sex marriages.

Nationwide, the majority of Americans support marriage equality, including a large and growing number of corporations and elected officials. Rice and his wife Ashley are proud to count themselves as allies.

“As an ally for equality, I try to live my life in a way that celebrates what makes us unique,” said Rice.

HRC applauds Tristan – and allies like him -- for his belief that all love is equal and we wish him and Ashley the best of luck as they begin their journey as newlyweds.
