State Department Launches Text Donation Campaign for Global Equality
July 3, 2012 by Carolyn Simon
The U.S. State Department has rolled out a text donation campaign that makes it easy to give money in support of LGBT equality around the world.
Anyone can donate $10 by texting the word PRIDE to 80000.
Contributions to the mGive International Response Equality Fund are used to “help to further programs and initiatives aimed at advancing human rights, fostering equality, advocacy, protection and dialogue to ensure human rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) persons around the world,” according to the mGive website.
The campaign is consistent with the State Department’s commitment to promoting LGBT human rights under Secretary Hillary Clinton’s leadership.
