Stand With Candidates Who Stand for Equality
June 28, 2010
Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Pa) was instrumental in the historic vote on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal in the US House last month. David Cicilline (D-RI) is the two-term, openly gay mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, and seeking an open House seat. These allies face tough elections from well-funded opponents with broad fundraising bases. HRC PAC has prioritized both candidates, and they're featured in HRC’s online candidate fundraising. Patrick Murphy is facing Mike Fitzpatrick, a former Republican Congressman who Murphy defeated in 2006. Fitzpatrick brings a long list of past donors and assistance from the Republican Party. In Rhode Island, big names like John McCain and Mitt Romney have already committed to raising funds for the Republican candidate in the seat Cicilline is seeking. This Wednesday is a key deadline for all candidates, and strong financial support now will boost the campaigns of these advocates for LGBT equality.
Paid for by Human Rights Campaign PAC and authorized by The Cicilline Committee and Patrick Murphy for Congress.
