Sign the Pledge: Call Out Chick-fil-A’s Anti-LGBT Donations
July 20, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
Outrage continues to grow following Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy’s proud proclamation that his company was “guilty as charged” when it came to their anti-LGBT donations.
Thousands of Americans are taking action and signing HRC’s pledge to express their dismay over Chick-fil-A’s support of groups that actively demonize LGBT people. Add your name now.
The ramifications of Chick-fil-A’s support are far and wide. In Boston, Mayor Thomas Menino is pledging to oppose the fast-food chain from opening in his city: “Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion.”
Ed Helms, star of “The Office” and “The Hangover,” also is speaking out against Chick-fil-A. Helms tweeted earlier this week: “Chick-fil-A doesn’t like gay people? So lame. Hate to think what they do to the gay chickens! Lost a loyal fan."

Chick-fil-A does have some supporters – like NOM and the Westboro Baptist Church. Jeremy Hooper, at Good As You, broke the original Chick-fil-A anti-LGBT donations last year, and recently reported that none other than Shirley Phelps Roper, with the Westboro Baptist Church, was among those supporting Dan Cathy. Among Phelps’ tweets: “Thank God someone has morals.”
