Selma to Fresno
June 2, 2009
Ed. Note: This guest post is from HRC volunteer leader Bob Mason in California.

Selma, California, to Fresno, California, that is. 14 miles and 100s of marchers. In Fresno the marchers were greeted by over 3,000 supporters of marriage equality. Fresno is the geographic center of California; we Met in the Middle to demonstrate a new commitment to an all-state, inclusive fight for the right to marry. Straight allies, members of the faith community, racial minorities, celebrities--a highly diverse coalition of speakers empowered, inspired and entertained the crowd. Cleve Jones addressed the crowd with Harvey Milk's bullhorn. San Francisco sent the official Castro Street gay pride flag in the spirit of solidarity. Though repealing Prop 8 might not happen until 2010, or 2012, or 2014--we will keep fighting until marriage equality in California is won and protected. HRC was visible at the march and rally and will continue to play a leading role!
