With the fight for marriage firing on all cylinders in the Land of Lincoln, consider getting involved by running this October’s Chicago Marathon and fundraising on behalf of HRC.
The Chicago Marathon is one of the five World Major Marathons, attracting nearly 40,000 participants from all across the nation and globe. Aside from the obvious draw of its host city, this event continues to be one of the fastest growing due to its flat and fast course, helping runners experienced and green both achieve personal best times.
Will you be running this race? If so, once you register on the marathon’s website (registration opens today at 12:00 p.m. and is expected to sell out almost immediately), we hope you’ll head over to www.hrc.org/athletes to set up your own personal fundraising page.
All participants who register as an Athletes for Equality push themselves physically to support the critical work of the Human Rights Campaign. In exchange, HRC will provide a five-month training program, athletic gear, fundraising support and the ability to setup an interactive personal fundraising page. We will connect all registrants to local representatives of HRC, invite them to events and let them know about potential volunteer opporutnities.
Not running this race? For an up-to-date listing of all events HRC has formed teams for, or to raise money for HRC via an event of your choosing, visit www.hrc.org/athletes.
