Ref. 71 Signature Update: Over 100K Counted
August 25, 2009
The Washington State Secretary of State reported last night that checkers in the signature verification process for Referendum 71 have surpassed 100,000 signatures checked. The new cumulative error rate for signatures is 11.72 percent (again if the error rate surpasses about 12.4 percent the referendum won't make it to the ballot). So long story short... the counting remains close and it's unclear whether or not voters will be asked to approve or reject the state's comprehensive domestic partnership law in November. We'll keep you posted.
