Reclaiming the Bible

There are gorgeous passages in the Bible that give sustenance to all people including LGBT people. It is rare frankly for anyone to claim Leviticus 19 is ever anyone’s favorite Bible passage!
Ask your family to share with you a passage that speaks to them and come prepared with your own. I will leave you with my favorite psalm (Psalm 23). If you want to listen to an amazing rendition of it, check out Bobby McFerrin’s composition. McFerrin uses female pronouns for God to great effect. I’ve stuck with the traditional gender pronouns below.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
All week long, HRC offered tips and strategies to help guide you through what may be a difficult holiday season, as part of our Religion & Faith blog series, “Debunking the Myth: How to Stand Your Bible Ground This Holiday.”
