Richard Carlbom is the campaign manager for Minnesotans United for All Families, the campaign working to defeat the proposed constitutional amendment that would limit the freedom to marry for committed, same-sex couples in Minnesota.
Senator Al Franken and his wife, Franni, have recorded a new video in opposition to the proposed marriage equality ban in Minnesota.
The video is part of the “Real Minnesotans Voting No” series by Minnesotans United for All Families, the coalition working to defeat the amendment banning same-sex marriage in the state.
The Frankens met in 1969 at a dance – the senator brought his future wife a ginger ale and asked her for a date. The couple has been married for more than 35 years.
“Love is love, and commitment is commitment is commitment, and marriage is marriage. Nobody owns it, it shouldn’t be taken away from you,” said Franni Franken in the video. “This amendment is just not Minnesotan.”
“I believe that it’s time that all people who love each other be able to be married,” said Sen. Franken.
