Rahm Emanuel on Marriage Equality: “The Clock is Ticking”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is calling on fair-minded Illinoisans to urge their state House representatives to pass marriage equality.
In a personal email, Emanuel reminded supporters that some members of the House have yet to decide on their vote.
"If we’re going to pass this bill, it’s crucial that members of the House hear from marriage supporters every single day until the freedom to marry becomes law in Illinois," he wrote in the e-mail according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Last November, Emanuel declared his public support for marriage equality legislation, which passed the Illinois House Executive Committee in February.
Passing the House floor is the final hurdle to securing Illinois as the tenth state with marriage equality.
Momentum is on our side and now is the time for marriage equality in Illinois.
HRC is proud to be on the ground with a 15-person field team and a contributing member to the Illinois Unites for Marriage coalition.
We encourage all Illinois residents to contact their Representative and urge them to vote YES on SB10.
