President to Sign Memorandum This Evening
June 17, 2009
As news reports have indicated and according to this morning's Daily Guidance from the White House Press Office:
In the evening, the President will deliver brief remarks and sign a Presidential Memorandum regarding federal benefits and non-discrimination in the Oval Office. This event is pooled press.
The event is scheduled for 5:45 pm eastern. Also, today's press briefing with Robert Gibbs will happen at 2:00 pm eastern and I'd expect the topic to come up. HRC has worked with the President's Transition Team since the election and White House Staff since the inauguration to provide them with substantive steps they can take to advance LGBT equality. Our recommendations are outlined in "A Blueprint for Positive Change" - an exhaustive document detailing actions the President can take to make the lives of LGBT people better.
