POZ 100: Amazing HIV-Positive Individuals Making a Difference
November 18, 2013 by Noël Gordon, HRC Foundation Coordinator
According to POZ, “this year’s list is made up of 100 HIV-positive people from around the country who are committed to ending the epidemic. And because they are living with the virus themselves, they often have a unique understanding of what needs to be done and how best to do it.” The honorees represent a diverse array of advocates and activists from organizations such as the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania, Indigenous People’s Task Force, Sero Project, AIDS United, and many more.
Notably, the list mentions two long-time supporters of HRC. Robert Garofalo, MD, is a physician researcher and advocate for people living with HIV/AIDS. He is currently division chief of adolescent medicine at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Ill. Josh Robbins is an activist and blogger who utilizes social media to bring a face to HIV and show the realities of living with the virus.
