Polls Closed in Iowa

Post submitted by Karl Bach, Former HRC Senior Regional Field Organizer

It’s just after 9pm on election day here in Marion, Iowa, and the polls have just closed. The entire Liz Mathis campaign has come back from going door to door in the rain to watch the election results pour in.  I’m here with One Iowa and the other 4 HRC organizers who have been working with the Mathis campaign for the last three weeks.  With the terrible weather outside I’m glad we been focused on encouraging early vote by mail for the last few weeks.  While we were pounding the streets and driving from farmhouse to farmhouse looking for voters our opponents were waiting to send a nasty last minute anti-equality robo call ( ).  We’ll know the results of this dramatic election soon.
