Photos: HRC President Announces Launch of MEI in Atlanta, Georgia

Today, HRC President Chad Griffin joined Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Councilmember Alex Wan and Georgia Equality Executive Director Jeff Graham at Atlanta’s City Hall to celebrate the launch of the 2013 Municipal Equality Index (MEI).

The MEI examines the laws, policies, and services of municipalities and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.

Atlanta scored 100 points on the 2013 MEI criteria, which examines non-discrimination laws, relationship recognition, the municipality as law enforcement and employer, municipal services, and the municipality’s relationship with the LGBT community.
