In anticipation of the Supreme Court’s decision on the constitutional challenge to Proposition 8, Hollingsworth v. Perry, HRC President Chad Griffin and Ted Olson, one of the primary attorneys representing Perry, are seen here on their way to the Supreme Court this morning to see if today would be decision day.
Hollingsworth v. Perry challenges the state constitutional amendment that stripped gay and lesbian Californians of marriage equality. The plaintiff couples of the Prop. 8 case, Kris Perry & Sandy Stier, and Paul Katami & Jeff Zarrillo, have won their case twice before – in a federal district court in California and again in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this year. The Perry case now awaits a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court.
Stay tuned to www.hrc.org/SupremeCourt for breaking news and analysis on decision day.
