Phoning for Equality
December 29, 2011 by Guest contributor
This post comes from Molly Griffard, one of HRC’s organizers in Washington State:
This week, while folks are home and away visiting friends and family, were ‘phoning from home’ to make sure our legislators hear from us. Volunteers are calling fellow supporters, helping them advocate for marriage equality by leaving messages on their legislators’ voicemails.
As we head into the legislative session, we need to make sure our legislators know that voters in their districts support marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples. They won’t know unless we tell them, and by making calls, we’re making sure our voices are heard.
You can help out too! We’ll provide training, a call script, and a phone list by email and conference call. All you need is access to a phone and computer. Every single phone call puts us one step closer to winning marriage equality in Washington state.
Two upcoming conference call trainings are scheduled:
Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 5:30 PST
Monday, January 2, 2012 at 6:30 PST
