PCAF and Washington United Team Up for Marriage
December 14, 2011 by Guest contributor
This post comes from Michael Martin, one of HRC’s organizers in Washington State:
One of the key components of any campaign is making phone calls encouraging our friends, family, and neighbors to make their voices heard. Washington United for Marriage is no exception and with the help of the Pierce County AIDS Foundation (PCAF) we have been able to make a large number of calls into key districts in Washington state. Every Tuesday and Wednesday volunteers come to phone bank and ask the most important question in our quest for marriage equality: “Will you tell your state legislator to support marriage equality?”
The feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly supportive and because of organizations like PCAF, we have made over 17,000 calls since the launch of our campaign. Furthermore, getting people to leave a message in support of marriage equality wouldn't be possible without the support of people like Hannah Britt. She is a dedicated volunteer who has worked on many issues important to ALL families in Washington state.
A big thanks to the Pierce County AIDS Foundation and all volunteers for taking the time to connect with their neighbors in making marriage equality a reality in Washington state. We can't do it without you.
If you want to get involved and join us at one of our phone banks, send me an email at Michael.Martin@hrc.org.
