Emma Stone and future Oscar host Seth MacFarlane announced this year’s Oscar nominees today at an early morning press conference.
How to Survive a Plague, which chronicles the early AIDS activism of ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group), has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature.
Tony Kushner, the gay Pulitzer-winning playwright of Angels in America, was also given a nod for his adapted screenplay of Lincoln.
Other nominees include outspoken LGBT allies Sally Field and Anne Hathaway, both nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Field was honored this fall with HRC’s Ally for Equality award, while Hathaway delivered a moving speech about her gay brother and the fight for full equality at HRC’s 2008 Los Angeles Dinner.
Congratulations to all the nominees!
