Oregon Racial Justice Organizations Endorse Equality on Eve of Court Arguments

Oregon United for Marriage This past Monday at Portland's Native American Youth Association and Family Center, Oregon United for Marriage unveiled an impressive coalition of 17 organizations that represent communities of color throughout the state. 

The announcement comes on the heels of oral arguments beginning in the legal challenge to Oregon's ban on same-sex marriage. These additions are part of a coalition of over 500 organizations that have endorsed marriage equality, making it one of the largest campaigns in Oregon history.

A decision in the case is not expected for a few weeks.

  • National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Portland
  • Native American Youth & Family Center (NAYA)
  • Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) Portland Black Chapter
  • Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN)
  • Urban League of Portland
  • Western States Center
