15 Days Left in Illinois’ Spring Legislative Session
May 14, 2013 by Lynne Bowman, Regional Field Director
On the heels of yesterday historic vote for marriage equality in Minnesota, staff and volunteers with Illinois Unites for Marriage are more energized than ever to make the Land of Lincoln the thirteenth state with marriage equality.
With only 15 days remaining in the Spring Legislative Session, connecting supportive voters with their legislator continues to be our highest priority.
With the opportunity for a vote getting more narrow every day, opponents to marriage equality are ramping up their efforts like never before. We must keep the pressure on just as strong. Two hours of phone banking any night of the week (or even on a Saturday) can make a real difference in the ultimate outcome of the vote in Illinois. Interested in volunteering? Contact us now.

HRC Regional Field Director Lynne Bowman has been on the ground in Illinois working side by side with our partners in the Illinois Unites for Marriage Coalition. To date, our volunteers and staff have talked to over 15,000 Illinoisans in thirty priority districts about why the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act is important. With an investment of 15 field organizers and a deep engagement in outreach efforts to businesses and the African American faith community, we working every day to lift up the stories of Illinois families and get SB10 passed.
