One Year to Go, One Day United!

The following post comes from Leah Solo, Coalitions Committee Chair, Minnesotans United for All Families:
This past Sunday marked one year to Election Day 2012. Here in Minnesota, we celebrated with over 100 house parties across the state, raising funds and mobilizing supporters to beat the anti-marriage amendment on the ballot in Minnesota in 2012.
Minnesotans United for All Families organized house parties from Minneapolis and St. Paul, to the suburbs, to Duluth, Mankato, and beyond. Parties ranged from small gatherings of six people, to hundreds of supporters turning out to donate.
HRC hosted 5 parties in support of the coordinated effort. Local hosts raised thousands for the HRC Minnesota Family Freedom PAC, which directs 100 percent of the funds to the fight against the amendment.
I attended 3 of these energizing events. One HRC member used his birthday party as a chance to ask his closest friends to support the cause. Another recruited a friend to host the event and then they filled the house with their closest friends. Yet another HRC member hosted at his apartment with co-workers, inviting neighbors, and friends to join the fight. It was a great day!
As the donations and pledges to vote no pour in from across the state, the reality is sinking in: We have a year to defeat this amendment and the clock is ticking! Learn more and get involved now!
