'On the Road to Equality' Headed for Kansas and Missouri

This summer, HRC is embarking on a bus tour across the country to promote equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people - and Kansas City and Lawrence are two of the stops in our tour through the Midwest.

After THREE amazing stops in Salt Lake City, Omaha and Lincoln, we roll into Lawrence this week to welcome students back to school at the University of Kansas.  We can’t wait to see that Rock Chalk, Jayhawk spirit welcome us to campus!

After our day at KU, we’ll head across the river to Kansas City with a slew of events and open houses lined up.  Check out our amazing schedule below and make sure you RSVP for the activities you want to attend!

Open House: the Equality Bus at the University of Kansas

In conjunction with our tour, we would like to personally invite you to a special event for local LGBT professionals and allies. HRC President Joe Solmonese will present "On the Cusp of Equality: Are We at a Tipping Point?", a talk about the current state of the LGBT movement in the US. HRC Foundation will host a raffle to benefit the LIKE ME Lighthouse project will include a grand prize of two free American Airlines tickets to anywhere in the US, Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean!  The drawing will be at MIDNIGHT.

Join HRC and Missie B's on Friday night as we raise awareness and money for the LIKE ME Lighthouse project – the proposal for a physical LGBT Center in Kansas City. Join HRC and KC area adoption professionals as we host a workshop on how to navigate the waters of same-sex adoption in Kansas and Missouri. If you or someone in your family is interested in building a family through adoption, here's your chance.
