Over the weekend, Orange is the New Black star Lea DeLaria stopped by the HRC Action Center and Store in San Francisco to show her support for the Human Rights Campaign. In town to perform at Feinstein’s at the Nikko, DeLaria also joined the city as a part of San Francisco’s Gay Pride Parade.
One of the highlights of this year’s Pride events was Frameline 38, the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, which ended on June 29th. HRC’s San Francisco Action Center and Store was proud to be the official ticket outlet for Frameline. DeLaria appeared in three of the films that were featured at Frameline.
“As a groundbreaking comedian, actress and jazz musician, DeLaria has been a vocal advocate for LGBT equality for over 25 years,” said Shane Martin, General Manager of the San Francisco Action Center and Store. We are thrilled that DeLaria is sparking a conversation about love, fairness and equality by adding her voice to HRC’s Equality Rocks campaign.”
The San Francisco HRC Action Center and Store in the historic Castro District is located in the former camera shop owned by civil rights legend Harvey Milk. The store is now a source for information on the work of the nation's largest LGBT civil rights organization. In addition to keeping LGBT individuals and allies informed on national issues, the action center engages advocates to push leaders at all levels in support of equality.
