NY City Council Speaker Weds Partner

New York City Council speaker and marriage equality advocate Christine Quinn wed her partner of 10 years, Kim Catullo, in Manhattan this past weekend. The ceremony included a number of prominent New Yorkers who fought to bring marriage equality to the Empire State last year, from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor Andrew Cuomo, to Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

Recent polling has shown Quinn with a commanding lead in the city’s 2013 mayoral race. If elected, Quinn would become one of the most powerful lesbians in elected office.
