NY Assembly to Vote on Marriage as Pressure Mounts on Senate
June 15, 2011 by Marty Rouse, National Field Director
Wow, what a tremendous day. I’m here in Albany at the state capitol in my home state working the halls and waiting for new developments as our campaign for marriage equality reaches a climax.
I just spoke with openly gay Assemblymember Danny O’Donnell as he was about to enter into the Assembly chamber and lead the vote on marriage equality legislation. He assured me that the Assembly will deliver a strong vote for the freedom to marry and keep the pressure on the Senate to take up the bill in these last few days of the legislative session.
Republican senators plan to continue their conversations tomorrow about how to proceed.
