NV Assembly Committee Approves SJR13
May 16, 2013 by Adrian Matanza, Senior Regional Field Organizer
Just moments ago, the Nevada State Assembly Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections approved SJR13, legislation that would continue the multi-year process of placing on the 2016 ballot a question to repeal Nevada's current ban on same-sex marriage and replace it with a law granting marriage equality to all Nevadans.
All 7 Democrats of the 10 person committee voted to approve the measure. The bill now heads to the full Assembly where it is likely to pass. You may recall the bill passed the state senate last month. This bill must then be passed by the legislature again in 2015 and will head to the 2016 ballot, where Nevada voters will have the opportunity to repeal the state's ban on marriage and grant marriage equality to all Nevadans.
Make sure you tell you state assemblyperson that this bill means a lot to you. Click here to send a quick message.
