NOM’s Reaction to This Week’s Historic Equality Victories
November 9, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Associate Director of Communications
NOM’s top leaders have had some interesting reactions to this week’s historic victories for LGBT equality, and they shine the light even more brightly on the true agenda of the anti-LGBT organization.
We told you yesterday about Jennifer Roback Morse’s despondent response. The head of NOM’s Ruth Institute took to a podcast with NOM’s “Cultural Director” Thomas Peters earlier this week to declare:
There really isn’t any future in sodomy. Sodomy cannot produce children. So that’s a little odd to say that we’re on the wrong side of history….
Orson Scott Card, who’s served on NOM’s board, compared President Obama to Nazis and Bolsheviks, saying:
You go along with the big lie every day. You did it obviously and openly in these last weeks before the election, allowing Barack Obama to conceal, cover up, lie -- all because, like good obedient party flacks, you knew that nothing was more important than keeping the Beloved Leader in power.
Then, when his appeasement of our enemies results in a nuclear explosion in Tel Aviv ... When more and more Al-Qaeda-style attacks kill more Jews and more Americans around the world ...(H/T Right Wing Watch)
In the past, Card has advocated for the criminalization of homosexuality and has written that marriage equality could and should lead to an overthrow of the U.S. government:
Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage…
But that’s not all – this morning, Jeremy Hooper reported for NOM Exposed that NOM’s own anti-defamation officer is calling President Obama a terrorist. His remarks also seem to imply that anyone who supports equality is a terrorist.
This is the face of the new NOM as the organization adapts to an American public rapidly turning against their extremist agenda. The sentiment isn’t new – what is new is how increasingly blatant they are about their true anti-LGBT beliefs.
