NOM Issues NH Enemies List
April 17, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
NOM is still smarting from many of their recent defeats and public embarrassments – particularly in New Hampshire, where the state legislature last month voted overwhelmingly to protect marriage equality and kill a repeal bill.
So NOM is going after New Hampshire Republicans who did the right thing and supported marriage equality. They recently ran an ad that’s essentially an “enemies list” – publicly calling out the Republicans who “betrayed” voters by supporting marriage equality.
NOM said of the fair-minded lawmakers: “They stood with interests who want to rip traditional marriage from the GOP platform. They stood against every major Republican candidate for President. Worse, some of them mocked the very institution of marriage that God himself authored.”
Actually, they stood with New Hampshire families, recognizing that strong families improve communities and benefit the state and all who live there.
NOM also implies they’re not done fighting marriage equality in New Hampshire yet, despite the overwhelming public support and the failure of repeal in the Republican-controlled House. They’re looking for “faithful candidates…to run against these politicians. If you are committed to restoring marriage as the exclusive union of one man and one woman, please contact us….”
