NOM Fundraising Off Of “All-Out Tech War”

NOM’s Facebook, Twitter, and blog got hacked yesterday, and the anti-LGBT org is wasting no time fundraising off of the incident, blaming “militant same-sex marriage activists” for their social media meltdown. In an email that went out last night, NOM president Brian Brown said:
Early this morning, NOM's online properties were maliciously hacked by militant same-sex marriage activists.
We cannot let this pass unchallenged.
First they attack us in the media with absurd accusations of racism and instigating division and hatred. Now it's a full-on cyber attack. I NEED YOUR HELP.
Will you make one URGENT online gift right away to help NOM defend marriage
against this all-out assault by extremists who will stop at nothing?
The “absurd accusations of racism and instigating division and hatred” Brian’s referring to is NOM’s strategy to pit LGBT people against African Americans. In their own words from their documents:
The strategic goal…is to drive a wedge between gays and blacks—two key Democratic constituencies. Find, equip, energize and connect African American spokespeople for marriage; develop a media campaign around their objections to gay marriage as a civil right; provoke the gay marriage base into responding by denouncing these spokesmen and women as bigots…
In the same email, Brown made a dramatic pitch for money, calling the their loss of control “all-out tech war, as our opponents seek to isolate and silence not only NOM, but each of us who believe in marriage. It takes significant resources—time, talent and money—to make your voice heard, especially when others are working so hard to silence us.”
Just as a reminder, nearly 90 percent of NOM’s funding comes from five people.
