No Surprise: Michele Bachmann Joins Anti-LGBT Organization

Michele Bachmann is joining the board of directors for the Thomas More Law Center, an anti-LGBT group that fought against the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act and has ties to the National Organization Marriage and the Prop 8 campaign.

In addition to working against issues like marriage equality and hate crimes protections, the Thomas More Law Center president claimed earlier this year that the “homosexual agenda” would cause the United States to “disintegrate like every other huge power that existed in history.”

Of course, this is in line with Michele Bachmann’s thinking when it comes to LGBT people – she once said our lives are akin to being a “part of Satan.” Some of Bachmann’s other hits include:

  • "Don’t misunderstand. I am not here bashing people who are homosexuals, who are lesbians, who are bisexual, who are transgender. We need to have profound compassion for people who are dealing with the very real issue of sexual dysfunction in their life and sexual identity disorders."
  • "If you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement."
  • “And what a bizarre time we’re in … when a judge will say to little children that you can’t say the pledge of allegiance, but you must learn that homosexuality is normal and you should try it.”
  • With total sexual anarchy, which I believe we are now on the verge of going into, when the culture takes sexual anarchy and legalizes it, raises that to the level of legal protection, that is when governments can come in with wholesale discrimination..."
  • “The sex curriculum will be essentially by taught by the local gay community.”

Some of Bachmann’s Thomas More cohorts include Charles LiMandri, an attorney with ties to NOM and who played a leading role in California’s Prop 8 campaign; and Congressman Allen West (R-FL), who once said that LGBT people didn’t face any kind of discrimination.
