New Year, New You: Join Athletes for Equality

Post submitted by Tommy Lodge, HRC Membership Outreach Senior Manager

Are you looking to get or stay in shape in the new year and move equality forward at the same time?  If so, consider becoming an HRC Athlete for Equality!

HRC is now forming a team for the Washington, DC Rock n’ Roll half Marathon to be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2013.  A series of 33 races across America and the world, the Rock n’ Roll is known for its live music around the route to keep runners entertained and energized they run diverse courses.  It all culminates in a live concert at the end of the course to celebrate the success of 26.2 or 13.1 miles completed.

Athletes for Equality push themselves physically and make a personal commitment to raise critically needed funds to support the work of HRC and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.  HRC will provide you with all the tools and support you need to make your journey a successful one - virtual coaching, fundraising support, and the camaraderie of a team as you train and during race week.

Don’t live in DC but would like to be an Athlete for Equality?  HRC is currently forming a team for the Publix Georgia half Marathon and 5k to be held on Sunday, March 17 in Atlanta, and registration will be live on the Athletes page within one week.  Additionally, you can always participate in any race on your own and raise critically needed funds via the “Choose Your Own” platform and create a personal fundraising page all your own.
