New Year, New ENDA Push
January 11, 2010
Now that the holidays are over, I look forward to hitting the road again to visit districts in New Jersey and upstate New York. Before I start my first ENDA organizing trip for 2010 this weekend, I wanted to share a report from a GAAMC event I attended in Northern New Jersey’s 11th congressional district before the holiday break. The Gay Activist Alliance of Morris County had their annual holiday talent show, which turned out to be a wonderful and fruitful evening. GAAMC has been such a great host and ally to us as we organize in this district to muster clergy and business support for ENDA. The talent show was great and although I did not perform, I did get the chance to address the group and make them aware of the importance of supporting ENDA and participating in our efforts. GAAMC members wrote almost 40 individual letters to Representative Frelinghuysen that night in support of ENDA. Many more went home and wrote letters to the editor for their local paper. The GAAMC holiday action table was my last event of the year and the perfect ending to last year’s ENDA work. Getting so much participation at my action table that night was the best holiday gift I could have received and the perfect ending to my 2009. Start the New Year strong and contact your legislator to urge them to support ENDA! Do it now by going to www.passENDAnow.org. Cheers to passing ENDA in 2010 once and for all!
