New MN United Ad Features Pro-Equality NFL Player

Richard Carlbom is the campaign manager for Minnesotans United for All Families, the campaign working to defeat the proposed constitutional amendment that would limit the freedom to marry for committed, same-sex couples in Minnesota.
In a compelling new video, Chris Kluwe, a punter for the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, urges Minnesotans to vote no on the state’s proposed amendment that would permanently limit the freedom of same-sex couples to marry.
“Marriage means two people that love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together,” Kluwe says in the new ad from Minnesotans United for All Families. “There is no difference between a gay household and a heterosexual household in raising a kid. If both parents are committed and loving to each other, then they are providing a stable and nurturing environment for that child to be raised in. And really, that’s what children need.”
Ellen DeGeneres just Tweeted her praise for Kluwe and linked to the video:
Kluwe is an outspoken advocate for equality. In September, he wrote a letter to Maryland Delegate Emmett Burns after the Maryland lawmakers lashed out at Brendon Ayenbadejo for the Baltimore Ravens linebacker’s vocal support of marriage equality in Maryland.
“I hope people vote no because at the end of the day, this is ultimately an issue about freedom,” Kluwe says in the ad.
Since writing his letter to Delegate Burns, Kluwe has been working with Minnesotans United to fight the ballot measure. In the new video, Kluwe says that defeating the proposed amendment would send a powerful message about the state of Minnesota.
“It will say that Minnesota believes that people should be treated equally no matter what their beliefs, no matter what their race, no matter what their gender,” Kluwe says.
