New Christian Clergy Group Speaks Out Against Amendment One in NC
April 27, 2012 by Karin Quimby, Regional Field Director
The opposition to Amendment One is growing every day. We have just been made aware of a new Christian website with Christian clergy speaking out about the harms this amendment will have on children and victims of domestic violence. Check out Pastors Against Amendment One.
It’s heartening to see that this issue spans theological boundaries, with this new group showing that people of faith who support gay and lesbian marriage and even those who aren’t sure can all come together and agree that the proposed Amendment One to the North Carolina Constitution has unintended consequences that would harm the most vulnerable in our society - including children and abused women. Our faith traditions call us to care for the least of these. Amendment One does not. That's why people of faith are mobilizing to stop this hurtful amendment.
