Tyler Glenn of the pop band Neon Trees has come out as gay in the latest issue of Rolling Stone.
The lead singer from the Provo, Utah-based band tweeted earlier this afternoon:
Yes. I am a happy and healthy Mormon gay pop star. I don't know what it all means, but I'm ok with it. http://t.co/PEcgvRsGn6— Tyler Glenn (@tylerinacoma) March 24, 2014
In his Rolling Stone profile, Glenn says seeing celebrities such as football player Michael Sam come out helped give him courage to go public with his own truth.
"I really love all of the sports figures that are coming out recently," he says. "I appreciated Michael Sam was like, 'I want to be able to go to the movies and hold hands with my boyfriend.' Even hearing him say 'boyfriend,' I was just like, that's cool."
