NCOD Tour Makes First Stop in Bozeman, Montana

On Monday, I was on the campus of Montana State University as part of HRC's National Coming Out Day program. I had the incredible opportunity to share HRC's work with the students here at Montana's largest university.

LGBT and allied students and members of the Bozeman progressive community turned out for a presentation on the LGBT movement, our future goals and the importance of being an involved activist at a young age.

While Montana has a strong libertarian community who are open to LGBT people, coming out is still often considered taboo, and for many is quite difficult. On this 25th anniversary of National Coming Out Day, students learned about why coming out still matters, and the role it plays in changing the hearts and minds of others.

Bozeman is the first stop in our three-city tour for National Coming Out Day. On Wednesday, we'll be at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and on Thursday, we'll be in Portland.
