NCAA Stands in Opposition of Indiana Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

The Indianapolis-based National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) today took a stand against a resolution to place a ban on sex-same marriage on the ballot next year

"The NCAA national office leadership strongly supports an environment of inclusion where all of our employees are treated fairly and enjoy equal protection under the law," NCAA spokesman Bob Williams said. "We urge Indiana lawmakers to legislate in the same spirit."

The Indiana Senate began hearings on the legislation this morning.

Since the resolution passed in the House in late January, Freedom Indiana has been mobilizing the campaign’s field and lobby teams to spread the word among senators that HJR3 is bad for business and should be voted down completely.  HRC is a proud member of the campaign and has been working with the team since early last year to kill the resolution and keep the amendment off of the ballot.

Stay tuned to the HRC blog for more updates out of Indiana.
