NBC and Tina Fey Statements on Tracy Morgan
June 10, 2011
NBC and Tina Fey have issued statements on Tracy Morgan's anti-gay rant during a comedy show in Nashville last week.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt called Morgan's statements "reckless," and said he made it clear to Morgan that "this kind of behavior will not be tolerated."
30 Rock star Tina Fey also put out a statement, saying the "violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community." Fey went on to say that without 30 Rock's LGBT employees, Morgan "would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket."
HRC is calling on Morgan to take meaningful action to show he understands the power of his words and the seriousness of his earlier remarks.
