MTV Star Comes Out
April 12, 2012 by Maureen McCarty, HRC Associate Director of Digital Media
MTV star Paul Iacono from The Hard Times of RJ Berger came out yesterday on Twitter, blasting the message, “Yes, I’m gay. And Yes, it does get better,” to nearly 13,000 followers.
Iacono later explained in an interview with Michael Musto of The Village Voice that he hoped his coming out would inspire gay youth.

“I didn't have much to look up to as a kid,” said the 23-year-old star to Musto. “I'm happy to be that person so kids won't have to grow up and be afraid of their sexuality and this won't be an issue.”
Iacono will soon star in MTV’s new series, Kenzie’s Scale, in which he will reportedly play one-half of a gay couple living in New York City.
Coming out is a continuous process and can often be difficult. HRC's Coming Out Project helps LGBT, as well as straight-supportive people live openly and talk about their support for equality at home, at work and in their communities each and every day. Learn more about the Coming Out Project.
