Moving in Minnesota!

The following post comes from Leah Solo, Coalitions Committee Chair, Minnesotans United for All Families:
In Minnesota, two significant events moved the LGBT community forward this week!
First, on Tuesday, November 29, Governor Mark Dayton established through Executive Order the Governor’s Task Force on the Prevention of School Bullying. This is an important step for Minnesota to examine the current policies and make recommendations to improve our policies in the future.
“Bullying causes severe suffering and harm to the children, who are its victims; and we must do more to stop it. Children and parents in Minnesota should have confidence that their schools are safe places for learning and are free of harm or intimidation. The work of this Task Force is critical to ensuring that a healthy and nurturing school environment exists for every child in our state,” said Governor Dayton.

The second exciting move forward was the establishment of the Minnesotans United for All Families Volunteer Action Center (VAC). Our rapidly expanding campaign could not be properly housed in our old tiny office. Between staff and volunteers, we were bursting at the seams!
So at 7am this morning, we met at our old office, packed up the moving van, and headed to our new office. The new Minnesotans United VAC features a conference room, area for phone banking, and 8 small offices for staff.
By 9:30am, we had unloaded and were getting ready to start another day of organizing. There is no doubt Minnesotans United for All Families is moving forward!
