Morning Washington State Update: Nearing the End
August 27, 2009
Just over 85 percent of the 137,689 submitted signatures have been checked in the process to determine whether Washington State's comprehensive domestic partnership law will be put to voters in November to approve or reject. Last night the Secretary of State's office reported117,069 signatures have been checked. Of those, 103,198 have been accepted and 13,871 have been rejected for a new cumulative rejection rate of 11.85 percent (inching up from 11.81 percent yesterday). If the final rejection rate is higher than about 12.4 percent the measure won't make it to the ballot.
