MN United More Than Triples Opponents’ Fundraising Efforts and Releases Two New Ads

Minnesotans United for All Families continues to go gangbusters in moving forward to defeat the amendment that would ban marriage for same-sex couples here in Minnesota. With the most recent fundraising reporting deadline behind us, the coalition revealed that it has raised a total of $4.6 million from more than 19,000 donors since the campaign began last year. $3.1 million of that was raised in 2012 alone from more than 16,000 individual donors, over 90 percent of whom live right here in the state.
Our opposition raised a total of $1.4 million from just 53 people. You read that right - 53. With the Catholic Church and NOM-affiliated groups propping up their organization, it’s clear the people of Minnesota aren’t buying their message.
The coalition also is announcing the release of two new ads for the campaign. The first, which will be running exclusively online, urges amendment opponents to talk with family and friends about how harmful this would be to Minnesota families. The second ad features Kate and Marianne, who tell their story of their 31-year (and counting) relationship.
We need to make sure that those who oppose this amendment talk with their family and friends about why it is important they do as well. It’s because of those tough conversations that we are now leading in the polls and continue to gain momentum heading into November.
Help the campaign keep these ads on the air by donating here - with your support and the support of a majority of Minnesotans, we will beat this thing.
HRC is a proud supporter of the coalition, Minnesotans United for All Families, working to defeat the amendment banning same-sex marriage in the state.
