MN United Campaign Continues to Expand

This post comes from HRC Field Organizer Michael Pfarr:

Here in Southern Minnesota, we’re working nonstop gearing up for election season and we’re seeing more and more Minnesotans stepping up to defend marriage equality.

Minnesotans United for All Families has grown by leaps and bounds in these past few months and it is now clear that this will be the largest grassroots campaign in Minnesota history. Never before has a campaign here had so many offices and organizers throughout the entire state, sparking conversations and turning the tide in our favor.

Where I am in the southern region of Minnesota, we have added organizers in Owatonna, Austin, Mankato, and Albert Lea and we continue our organizing efforts in Rochester and Winona. While adding staff, we are also rolling out new programs like “Let Your Friends Know” which provides individuals with the training they need to have meaningful and persuasive conversations with their friends and family about why they are voting NO on the freedom-limiting marriage amendment.

One of the more exciting tidbits out of Minnesota is the continually growing coalition of businesses, organizations, and individuals who oppose this anti-marriage amendment. Spurred in part by the courageous announcement from General Mills that they oppose the marriage amendment, our coalition now stands at over 515 members and growing.

From the Iron Range to the Twin Cities, the tide is changing in Minnesota. Southern Minnesota is no exception.

HRC is a proud supporter of the coalition, Minnesotans United for All Families, working to defeat the amendment banning same-sex marriage in the state.
