Missouri Non-Discrimination Act Continues to Garner Business Support

Jeff Krehely at HallmarkPost submitted by Kellie Rohrbaugh, HRC Regional Field Organizer

Companies of all sizes continue to demonstrate their support for the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act (MONA), which would add workplace protections against discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers.  Our coalition of business supporters has grown to 365, including major companies like Pfizerand ConAgra.

Last week, I drove to Kansas City for a chance to meet some of the great companies in Missouri that champion the causes of equality and inclusion. The Hallmark Corporation served as a generous host for the 2014 Kansas City Corporate Celebration of Equality, presented by HRC's Kansas City steering committee.

At the event, HRC Chief Foundation Officer Jeff Krehely highlighted the momentum for LGBT equality in Missouri and across the county while applauding the hard work done by employers in Kansas and Missouri to make their companies better places to work for LGBT employees.  The best part of the event was learning more about workplaces that honor, respect and nurture employees.  Over the course of the evening, I heard from both a company chairperson and a 30-something professional from another company about their experience of bring their “whole self to work” and being valued for everything they have to offer the organizations.

I look forward to the day when all LGBT workers in Missouri can count on the opportunity to bring their whole selves to work.  To find out more about Missouri businesses that oppose discrimination or the campaign to pass the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act, please visit http://www.moworkplaceequality.com/.
