Mike Huckabee: BSA Gay Ban Protects Scouts from Abuse
July 19, 2012 by Dan Rafter, Online Campaigns Manager
Mike Huckabee drew a comparison between gay men and pedophiles on his radio show yesterday while discussing the Boy Scout’s ban on gay members.
While one caller told a story of his abuse at the hands of a Scout leader, Huckabee agreed that was the reason why gays should be kept out of the Scouts. Huckabee responded to the story by saying:
I think if anybody wants to argue about this case, they need to hear your story. That’s very powerful. I thank you for having the candor to share it with us, and again, you make us all understand why the Boy Scouts made a decision that I at least think was the right one.
Listen to the exchange:
It is shocking and disheartening to hear a former elected official and public figure spread such misinformation about LGBT people. Tweet your outrage to Governor Huckabee below and help us spread the word about his rhetoric.
